ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — A Flash Flood Warning has been issued for Buncombe, Haywood, Jackson and Transylvania counties.

the National Weather Service said persistent moderate to heavy rain across the area Thursday has resulted in between 4 and 6 inches of rain. A band of moderate to heavy rain with rainfall rates of 1 to 2 inches per hour is moving into an area with already saturated soils. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are possible in the warned area.

Some locations that will experience flash flooding include downtown Asheville, Brevard, Arden, East Asheville, West Asheville, North Asheville, Black Mountain, Mills River, Woodfin, Fletcher, Swannanoa, Canton, Lake Junaluska, Weaverville, Fairview, Biltmore Forest, Bent Creek, Clyde, Mount Pisgah and Blue Ridge Parkway-Mount Pisgah to the North Carolina Arboretum.

The Flash Flood Warning is in effect until 2 a.m.

A flash Flood Warning is also in effect until 2 a.m. for McDowell, Mitchell and Yancey counties. Some locations that will experience flash flooding include Spruce Pine, Newland, Blowing Rock In Caldwell County, Banner Elk, Elk Park, Bakersville, Beech Mountain In Avery County, Crossnore, Sugar Mountain, Seven Devils, Linville Falls, Blue Ridge Parkway-Linville Falls to Grandfather, Blue Ridge Parkway-Little Switzerland to Linville, Grandfather Mountain State Park, Blue Ridge Parkway-Craggy to Little Switzerland, Mount Mitchell State Park, Altamont, Pineola, Ingalls and Linville.

Henderson County is under a Flash Flood Warning until 1:30 a.m.

A Flash Flood Warning is in effect until 1 a.m. for Macon and Polk counties.
