ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — Tomorrow, Mehfil Indian Restaurant will celebrate Holi, the Indian “Festival of Colors,” at their restaurant in the heart of downtown Asheville.

The festival will run from 5-9 p.m., Wednesday, March 4 at Mehfil, 5 Biltmore Ave. Celebrations will be held every hour for 40 guests apiece. Find tickets here.

What to expect at the Holi celebration

Each of the hourly festivities will begin with “color throwing,” or the celebratory scattering of brightly colored paint powder, in the front dining room of the restaurant. Guests are encouraged to wear clothing they do not mind being covered in color.

In addition to the color throwing, live musicians and traditional dancers will be in attendance, and, of course, Mehfil’s menu of Indian cuisine will be offered during the event.

“The Festival of Holi is about joy and connection,” said Raj Manaise, owner of Mehfil, in a press release. “One of my favorite things about Asheville is the appreciation for global traditions and the sense of community. These reflect everything Holi stands for, and we’re excited to share that energy with our neighbors.”
