ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) —

A Tennessee fugitive police described as heavily armed was arrested in West Asheville after a brief foot chase Thursday.

Officers working from information from the Cocke County Sheriff’s Office spotted Jacob Kyle Ledford, 30, on Brevard Road about 1:23 p.m., a news release from the Asheville Police Department said. When officers made contact, Ledford fled on foot but was quickly caught.

During the arrest, Ledford had fentanyl, methamphetamine and three firearms, police said in the news release.

Ledford faces numerous charges, including:

  • NCIC Hit: Sell/deliver methamphetamine
  • NCIC Hit: Possession with intent to sell deliver Schedule I
  • NCIC Hit: Possession of a handgun while under the influence
  • Possession of a weapon of mass destruction
  • Trafficking in opium or heroin by possession (Level III)
  • Trafficking in opium or heroin by transport (Level III)
  • Trafficking in methamphetamine by possession (Level I)
  • Trafficking in methamphetamine by transport (Level I)
  • Possession with intent to sell deliver Schedule IV
  • Possession with intent to sell deliver Schedule VI
  • Resist delay obstruct
  • Possession of drug paraphernalia

Asheville police seized:

  • Glock 23 pistol
  • 72.63g of fentanyl
  • 57.74g of meth
  • 118.10g of THC wax
  • 5DU of Xanax
  • $2,060

Ledford was booked into the Buncombe County Detention Facility under a $405,000 secured bond.
