ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — Dennis Gates Miller, 33, was arrested on numerous charges last night after the Asheville Police Department arrested the Asheville man in the River Arts District.
APD officers apprehended Miller around 8:30 p.m. last night, Oct. 8, on a crime prevention circuit.
Miller was out after city curfew, 7:30 p.m., and looting buildings. He was taken into custody after attempting to escape on a motorcycle, which police determined was stolen.
Miller was found around the entrance to a Foundry St. building. Foundy St. was once home to a collection of businesses including the Grail Moviehouse, Summit Coffee and Drift Studio Art Gallery, but was hit hard by flooding from the French Broad River during Hurricane Helene.
The full list of charges leveled against Miller included eight misdemeanors and three felonies. The charges were:
- Misdemeanor: City Curfew Violation
- Misdemeanor: Assault on Government Official x3
- Misdemeanor: Resist, Delay, and Obstruct x3
- Misdemeanor: Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
- Felony: Possession of Burglary Tools
- Felony: Possession of Stolen Motor Vehicle
- Felony: Trespass During Emergency
Miller is held at the Buncombe County Detention Facility under a $20,000 bond, or $2,000 to a bondsman.
