What to expect at “The Happy Urbanist” event

“Across the country, cities are experimenting with fast, low-cost ideas that transform public spaces — whether it’s pop-up parks, reimagined streets, or creative interventions that cut through red tape. These projects prove that meaningful change doesn’t always require years of planning or massive budgets,” the ADA wrote in a press release.

“Jon Jon Wesolowski will highlight real-world examples of both grassroots and institutional projects that are reshaping cities to be safer, more vibrant, and more human-scaled. His engaging perspective draws from eight months abroad studying cities, as well as his popular TikTok channels, which have attracted more than 406,000 followers and 8.6 million likes.”

“This is an exciting opportunity for Asheville,” said Hayden Plemmons, executive director of the ADA. “Jon Jon’s insights and energy will inspire us to think creatively and urgently about how we can reimagine our own public spaces to better serve people.”
