HENDERSONVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — Seafood restaurant Bay Breeze Seafood of Hendersonville found its store underwater when Hurricane Helene hit in late Sept. 2024. Tomorrow, the aquatic cuisine spot celebrates its grand reopening.
The store will open its doors to the community at 11 a.m. tomorrow, Jan. 28, at 1830 Asheville Hwy, Hendersonville.
While the restaurant has been around for over 20 years, the reopening will feature a brand new look for the establishment after the restaurant closed on Sept. 25, 2024.
“Our dining room has not been open since then,” said Bay Breeze co-manager Kourtney Wunsch. “We had about four feet of water come into the building. Everything in there is new. Everything’s new, it’s all fresh. We hope that people like it as much as we do.”
The restaurant sits between 330 and 350 people. For parties of 10 or more, Bay Breeze requires a reservation to be called in ahead of time.
“Just so we can have everything ready for them,” Wunsch said.
Wunsch, who co-manages the Bay Breeze front of house with Maggie Harris, said that the restaurant’s new look will come with new hours.
“We did extend the hours a little bit,” Wunsch said. “We are now open Tuesday to Thursday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., Friday is 11 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. and then we have new Saturday lunch hours. We were closed for lunch on Saturdays and we are now open at noon to 9:30., and then Sunday is 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.”
While Wunsch said that daily specials will become part of the menu soon, she recommends the Captain’s Platter.
“It is a platter of just about every piece of fish that we offer,” Wunsch laughed. “Fried. It comes with your choice of side, your choice of bread and then coleslaw. And that way, you get a little bit of everything.”
