ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) – Six of the Houston Astros’ top 30 ranked prospects will be on the Asheville Tourists’ Opening Day roster.
The team released its roster on Wednesday, including 31 players: 16 pitchers and 15 position players.
According to MLB.com, the Astros’ top prospects on the list include: outfielders Luis Baez (2) and Cam Fisher (23); infielder Brice Matthews (4); right-handed pitchers Jake Bloss (11) and Andrew Taylor (17); and left-handed pitcher Trey Dombrowski (22).
The roster also includes five others who were selected in the top ten rounds of the draft: catcher Collin
Price, outfielder Tyler Whitaker, and Infielders Ryan Johnson, Austin Deming and Jeron Williams.
The remaining players on the Opening Day roster include: catchers John Garcia and Garret Guillemette;
infielders Narbe Cruz, Luis Encarnacion, Pascanel Ferreras, Jackson Loftin and Jacob Teter. Meanwhile, the pitching staff includes: Edinson Batista, Valente Bellozo, Carlos Calderon, Deury Carrasco, Franny Cobos, Ian Foggo, Jose Guedez, Joey Mancini, Jeremy Molero, Railin Perez, Nic Swanson, Alejandro Torres and Manuel Urias.
It’s an international roster overall, with players from the United States, Mexico, Venezuela, Cuba and the Dominican Republic.
The Tourists tune-up for the season with a sold-out exhibition game against the Fayetteville Woodpeckers on April 3 to mark the 100th anniversary of McCormick Field. The official home opener will be at 6:35 p.m. Friday, April 5 against the Winston-Salem Dash.
