ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — I-26 Connector construction could slow traffic on several Asheville roads this week, with the most significant delays expected Tuesday night on Interstate 240 and Patton Avenue.
Crews are scheduled to remove an electrical line over Patton Avenue beginning at 9 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 13.
The work will require temporary traffic slowdowns, known as slow rolls, on I-240 in both directions and along Patton Avenue between Regent Park Boulevard and the west end of the Capt. Jeff Bowen Bridge.
Each slow roll could last up to 30 minutes. Work may continue overnight until 6 a.m. Wednesday.
Other construction work scheduled this week includes:
- Monday, Oct. 12: Flaggers will direct traffic at intersections along Riverside Drive between Hill Street and Broadway Street while crews perform erosion control work. The work is expected to continue until 6 p.m., but no road closures are planned.
- Wednesday and Thursday, Oct. 14-15: Crews will continue excavation work for the I-26 Connector project. No road closures are expected.
Drivers should watch for flaggers, follow posted traffic signs and be prepared for changing traffic patterns in construction areas.
All work is weather-dependent, and schedules could change.
