CANTON, N.C. (828newsNOW) — A lane will close on Interstate 40 near Canton, N.C., next week to allow a critical bridge replacement project over Incinerator Road to continue.
The night of Monday, Sept. 14, crews from Wright Brothers Construction will install the lane closure on I-40 West starting at Exit 31 near Champion Drive.
Project engineers anticipate the operation to be concluded by afternoon on Thursday, Sept. 17. The lane should open again that evening.

“Crews are more than 70 percent complete on the $23.2 million project which will provide drivers with a safe structure for upcoming decades,” said the North Carolina Department of Transportation.
Transportation officials remind drivers to remain alert, obey all posted signs traffic signs and follow instructions of flaggers for the safety of motorists and workers.
