ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — The Buncombe County District Attorney’s Office said Thursday it will not seek “called and failed” orders for people who miss or arrive late to District Court because of hazardous travel conditions.

The policy applies to administrative matters and minor traffic cases scheduled for court Thursday morning. Officials said icy roads and travel delays could prevent some defendants and respondents from attending.

Cases affected by the advisory will be automatically continued to a later date if individuals are unable to appear. No immediate action is required, the District Attorney’s Office said.

Updated court dates will be posted on the eCourts online portal. Individuals may also contact the Clerk of Superior Court to confirm their rescheduled court appearance.
