ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) – Reactions to the return of former and future President Donald J. Trump are mixed. Having been moved indoors this year due to weather concerns, the 45th and 47th president’s second inauguration is seemingly drawing less attention than last time he took the White House.
Trump is set to take the oath around 12 p.m. inside the Capitol Rotunda in Washington, D.C. After taking the oath this afternoon, the newly installed president is expected to greet thousands of spectators in Capital One Arena in the snow covered United States capital.
Some young people told us what they thought about the return of the former president.
To the question “Are you going to watch the inauguration,” Ryan Thornburg, a collegiate athlete at Montreat College, replied, “If I get back from practice in time.”
His teammate, Rene Tamez, seemed even less certain.
“Probably not, I have other things to do,” Tamez stated as he scarfed down breakfast before driving to work.
The two friends cared about the election, but the inauguration seemed less important to them.
“I feel it is my duty as an American citizen to watch the changing of the guard,” Thornburg said. He would be watching regardless of who had won the election, but only if the inauguration fit neatly in his schedule.
“I don’t care for politics,” Tamez said. “It confuses me. Stuff that should make sense makes no sense.”
By the end of the day, the United States of America will have a new president.
