HAYWOOD COUNTY, N.C. (828newsNOW) — A lane closure on eastbound Interstate 40 near U.S. 74 in Haywood County is expected to cause significant traffic delays, according to the North Carolina Department of Transportation.
The incident, reported at mile markers 28.9 to 29.3 near West Canton, involves a maintenance project that has closed the right lane about two miles past Exit 27.
NCDOT said one of three lanes in the area is closed, and motorists should anticipate a high impact to traffic as crews continue their work, which is expected to be completed by 6:55 p.m. Tuesday, July 22.
