ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — Expect a heavy police presence downtown Wednesday as former President Donald Trump makes a campaign stop at Harrah’s Cherokee Center Asheville.

And Asheville police are urging people to be peaceful and leave weapons at home.

Local, state and federal agencies have been working on security measures and plan to “maintain a strong and visible presence in the HCC area, patrolling by vehicle, on foot and on bicycles. These measures are designed to safeguard all participants and visitors,” an Asheville Police Department news release said.

“We encourage our community to treat each other with respect. Adhering to all applicable laws and regulations will help ensure that everyone can safely exercise their right to free speech.”
