ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — River Arts District painter Julie Miles paused her art practice to support her family after her husband was diagnosed with early-onset Parkinson’s disease. This fall, Miles will return to the RAD with a new exhibit, “MADEofTHIS.”

“MADEofTHIS” will be shown from Sept. 26–Oct. 26 at Pink Dog Gallery, 348 Depot St., with an opening reception from 5–8 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 2.

According to a Pink Dog press release, “MADEofTHIS is Julie’s reentry into art, a series that began as an homage to her grandparents’ manual labor as farmers and evolved into a celebration of the materials, memory, and identity. Through wool-spinning, plant-dyeing, weaving and pinhole photography, she explores the intersection of craft, place and self. Julie’s wish for this work is that it offers a quiet space to dwell and discover how both the harshness and softness of life coexist, our place in it and how loving it all leads to a life well lived.”
