ALEXANDER, N.C. (828newsNOW) — The Alexander Post Office is officially back in business after being shut down after flooding from Tropical Storm Helene left several feet of water inside the building.
Postmaster Clifford Warren said the office reopened Monday after crews cleaned up the facility and trimmed landscaping around the property.
“They called me last Tuesday and told me to be here,” Warren said. “We cleaned up and opened up on Monday.”
All mail operations, including delivery and P.O. box services, have returned to the Alexander location after temporarily being rerouted through the Weaverville Post Office.
“Yes, everything’s running back through here,” Warren said. “Our P.O. box customers have all their mail back down here for pickup.”
A local resident reported seeing a mail truck making deliveries Wednesday morning, signaling a full return to normal operations.
