A man who has been charged with crimes at least 114 times, including two arrests this year, is back in custody.
James Rashanda Nesbitt, 48, was arrested Wednesday, May 15, on open warrants for alleged larceny and a parole violation, Asheville police said in a news release. Nesbitt was taken into custody just before 11 p.m. at an apartment complex on South French Broad Avenue.
Nesbitt was convicted of habitual larceny in January 2023 and served a term, police said.
“Since his release in February 2024, Nesbitt has been arrested twice for larceny in downtown Asheville. The latest charges are currently under investigation. Since 1992, law enforcement has charged Nesbitt at least 114 times,” the news release said.
Nesbitt was booked into the Buncombe County Detention Facility under a no bond hold (ineligible for release) due to the Pretrial Integrity Act and the alleged parole violation.
