ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) —

A 20-year-old man has been arrested in an armed robbery at a convenience store in the 200 block of Amboy Road earlier this month.

Logan Lee Booth was charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon and taken into custody on Friday, May 17, Asheville police said.

In a news release earlier this month, the Asheville Police Department asked for the public’s help to identify a person responsible for a  robbery that happened about 9:53 p.m. on May 9. Surveillance video showed a masked man with a gun entering the store, a police spokesperson said. The man reportedly left the store with about $400 in cash and other items and fled on foot.

In that earlier release, police said, “The cashier described the gunman as a Black male, tall, large build, wearing a charcoal grey/dark hoodie, and brandishing a silver and black handgun.”

However, the man charged in the robbery is white.

“It was dark. He was wearing a dark hoodie. But after a review of the surveillance footage, they were able to identify Logan Lee Booth,” the police spokesperson said.

Booth is being held in the Buncombe County Detention Facility under no bond because of the Pretrial Integrity Act.
