HENDERSON COUNTY, N.C. (828newsNOW) — A man is facing attempted murder charges after Henderson County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a domestic violence call Monday evening in the Mountain Home community.

Upon arrival, deputies observed a significant amount of blood through a window. A man, later identified as Donald Garrett Jr., 33, was seen inside the home and appeared to be covered in blood, according to the sheriff’s office.

Deputies forced entry into the home and found two family members suffering from life-threatening stab wounds. Garrett was taken into custody at the scene, and deputies administered life-saving aid to the victims until emergency medical personnel arrived.

The Henderson County Sheriff’s Office said the quick response and decisive actions of the deputies played a critical role in stabilizing the victims.

The Major Crimes Unit’s Violent Crimes Division responded and launched an investigation.

Garrett was charged with two counts of attempted first-degree murder and two counts of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury.

A district court judge set Garrett’s bond at $750,000 secured.

The incident remains under investigation.
