ARDEN, N.C. (828newsNOW) — A Buncombe County man has been arrested in connection with two incidents involving gunfire inside a home on Somerset Drive in Arden.

Anthony Azamghavami, 39, was taken into custody Tuesday, April 8, and charged with two counts of discharging a firearm within an enclosure to incite fear, a misdemeanor probation violation, possession of a firearm by a felon, possession of a stolen firearm and possession of a toxic substance, according to the Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office.

Detectives began investigating after shots were reported inside the home on March 31. A second incident occurred at the same location on April 7. Authorities identified Azamghavami as the suspect and arrested him the following day.

He was booked into the Buncombe County Detention Facility under a $150,000 bond, according to jail records.

“I’m proud of the swift, coordinated efforts of our Criminal Investigations Division, patrol deputies and Special Response Team in safely apprehending the suspect,” BCSO District 1 Capt. Elliot Summey said in a statement. “Their work is a reflection of the dedication and professionalism our community expects and deserves.”

Summey added that although the incident was isolated, the department’s response shows how focused leadership and teamwork can quickly restore safety and peace of mind.

“I’m grateful for the commitment our deputies show every day in protecting Buncombe County,” he said.
