ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) —

A wanted felon armed with a handgun was arrested Wednesday in West Asheville

Asheville police officers responding to reports of an armed robbery on Granada Street about 7:25 p.m. found Daryl Thomas Johnson, 24, who was wanted on five open warrants.

Johnson, who was found to be in possession of a firearm during his arrest, was charged with the following:

  • Attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon
  • Carrying concealed gun
  • Assault on a female
  • Resisting public officer
  • Possession of firearm by felon
  • Warrant: Common law robbery
  • Warrant: The counts of felony probation violation
  • Warrant: First-degree burglary
  • Warrant: Felony conspiracy
  • Warrant: Attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon

Johnson was booked into the Buncombe County Detention Facility under no bond (ineligible for release) because of the felony probation violation.
