MARSHALL, N.C. (828newsNOW) — As downtown cleanup continues and businesses reopen, parking and traffic enforcement will resume stricter monitoring, the Marshall Police Department said Tuesday.
Since recent storm damage, parking availability has been limited. However, with cleanup efforts restoring marked parking spots and contractors beginning to leave, police will start enforcing moving and parking regulations more closely throughout the week.
Officers will issue warnings and citations as necessary but will continue to waive the two-hour parking limit downtown to accommodate ongoing rebuilding and contracting work.
“With the downtown cleanup and business re-openings, it’s starting to feel like home again,” the department said in a Facebook post.
As businesses reopen and visitors return, police have a responsibility to ensure safety and security for everyone, the post said.
Residents and visitors are reminded to avoid driving the wrong way on one-way streets and to respect yellow-painted lines, which are not designated for parking.
Those needing long-term parking permits can contact the Land of Sky — Marshall office at 828-649-3031.
“We’re excited to see everything coming back together, and we are here to to help in any way we can,” the department said in its Facebook post.
