ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — A motorcyclist was killed in a crash on the Blue Ridge Parkway on Monday.
Buncombe County fire personnel found Albertaus Peek, 67, of Bodegraven, Netherlands, dead at the scene.
“Preliminary investigations indicate that Peek was traveling southbound with a group of riders when he failed to navigate a turn, left the lane and hit a vehicle traveling northbound,” a news release from the National Park Service said. “The driver of the northbound vehicle sustained minor injuries.”
Members of a motorcycle riding group notified National Park Service dispatchers of the crash near milepost 377 about 2:30 p.m.
No other details were available.
