ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) —— Movies in the Park, an annual summer tradition for downtown Asheville, returns tomorrow for the first screening in the series.

“Moana 2” will be projected for families and film lovers alike just after dusk around 8:25 p.m., Friday, May 8 at Court Plaza in Pack Square Park. Attendees will receive free leis while supplies last.

The Asheville Parks & Recreation Play Zone will open an hour before the show with games, music and activities for kids.

Refreshments will be for sale courtesy of Kona Ice of Asheville, Kernel Mike’s World Famous Kettle Corn and the Smasheville food truck.

Families are invited to bring blankets, lawn chairs and their friends to enjoy the film. Costumes are encouraged, though alcohol, pets and smoking are prohibited at Movies in the Park.

Screenings will occur once a month all summer long. Future movies include:

  • “Black Panther,” 8:45 p.m., Friday, June 13 – Attendees will receive free superhero masks while supplies last
  • “Finding Nemo,” 8:45 p.m., Friday, July 11 – Attendees will receive free clownfish stress relievers while supplies last
  • “Wicked,” 8:25 p.m., Friday, August 8 – Attendees will receive free green or pink sunglasses while supplies last
