CHARLOTTE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — A Hendersonville woman has been chosen to take the stage with international superstar Shakira at the first show on the United States leg of her Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour.
Adriana Chavela, the founder of nonprofit Hola Carolina, will walk with Shakira during her May 13 performance at the Bank of American Stadium, 800 S. Mint St.

Chavela is one of 50 North Carolina women “who embody strength, leadership and the fierce ‘she-wolf’ spirit that defines her tour” chosen to walk with Shakira at the show, a press release said.
“This moment is more than a personal honor. It’s a reflection of what we’ve built together at Hola Carolina, a community that uplifts, includes and celebrates Latina women,” said Chavela in the release. “To walk alongside Shakira, someone who has always used her platform to uplift others, is beyond meaningful. I’ll be walking for all the mujeres who show up every day to make North Carolina better.”
“These women represent the best of who we are. I am in awe of their accomplishments and am honored that they will be with me for my first U.S. show this year,” said Shakira in a statement about the 50 selected women.
Chavela and Hola Carolina are a huge resource to the Spanish-speaking community in North Carolina, providing news, information and helpful programs around the state.
