CLYDE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — Celebrate our national heritage of hunting and fishing at this N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission event.
In commemoration of National Hunting and Fishing Day, exhibitions, vendors, food trucks and a youth fishing competition will take place in Clyde.
The family-friendly event will be hosted on the campus of Haywood Community College (185 Freedlander Drive) from 10 a.m.–4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 28.
Planned demonstrations are fish printing, lumberjacking, archery and falconry. Some of the vendors set to attend are Ducks Unlimited, the U.S. Forest Service, Blue Ridge Snorkel Trail, Bearwise and the USDA Wildlife Services.
The Warrior Clan Youth Fishing Tournament is also happening that day. Pre-registration is required for contestants. To register for free, call 828-593-9866.
Food trucks slated for the event include Ben’s Backdraft BBQ, Kettle Corn and Frozen Josie’s Ice Cream Truck.
Instituted by Congress in 1971, the National Hunting and Fishing Day was established to support the continuation of safe hunting and angling practices.
