WAYNESVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — The Federal Emergency Management Agency, FEMA, has opened a new Disaster Recovery Center in Waynesville, N.C.
The Waynesville DRC is open from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., seven days a week, as of Friday, Oct. 18. It is located at the Regional High Technical Center, 112 Industrial Park Dr., Waynesville.
“A DRC is a one-stop shop where survivors can meet face-to-face with FEMA representatives, apply for FEMA assistance, receive referrals to local assistance in their area, apply with the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) for low-interest disaster loans and much more,” said FEMA in a press release.

FEMA is providing a variety of assistance to North Carolina residents facing damages from Hurricane Helene. FEMA applications can be filed at www.disasterassistance.gov or by calling (800) 621-3362.
The Waynesville DRC joins locations in Asheville, Bakersville, Boone, Brevard, Hendersonville, Lenoir, Marion and Sylva as FEMA aid continues to spread through Western North Carolina.
According to a FEMA press release, more DRC locations will open in the days to come.
