ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — No criminal charges will be filed following an investigation into a reported disturbance at a downtown hotel Saturday night, according to the Asheville Police Department.

Officers responded to the Embassy Suites in downtown Asheville around 6:37 p.m. Saturday, May 10, after receiving a report that U.S. Rep. Chuck Edwards had assaulted a person.

The department’s Patrol and Criminal Investigation divisions conducted an investigation that included interviews with the reporting individual and several witnesses. After reviewing the findings and consulting with the Buncombe County District Attorney’s Office, authorities determined that no charges will be filed against anyone involved, Asheville police said.
