ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — The Asheville Police Department is investigating a shooting that took place early Sunday morning at a South Asheville apartment complex, leaving one person injured.

Around 1:33 a.m. on Sunday, July 20, APD officers responded to the Ascot Point Village apartment complex at Ascot Point Circle to investigate multiple reports of gunfire. Upon arrival, officers canvassed the area and recovered more than a dozen shell casings, along with locating six vehicles that had been struck by gunfire. 

During the investigation, officers discovered that a man had sustained a graze wound from a bullet during the incident. The victim reported that he heard gunshots after a green Subaru Outback entered the complex then was grazed by a bullet on his leg. The victim declined medical treatment at the scene.
