ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) —
Authorities have been mum about a May 29 shooting on the Blue Ridge Parkway that sent a 19-year-old to the hospital with critical injuries. More than a week later the National Park Service has not released any updates on the incident, including the condition or identity of the victim.
“I don’t have any further updates,” the National Park Service’s Leesa S. Brandon said via email Thursday, June 6.
The shooting happened shortly after 2 p.m. on May 29, not far from the North Carolina Arboretum.
By that evening, no arrests had been made in what authorities described as a targeted crime. The National Park Service said in a news release that day there was no threat to the community.

The National Park Service Investigative Services is leading the investigation with support from Blue Ridge Parkway law enforcement rangers and the Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office, Brandon said.
Later that week, Brandon said no other details about the shooting were available.
“Yesterday’s update still stands,” Brandon said via email May 30.
