HENDERSONVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) —
Two men who attempted to elude Henderson County authorities on a vehicle stop Thursday were jailed on numerous drug charges, authorities said.
Detectives patrolling the area of Mitchelle Drive and Orrs Camp Road in Hendersonville spotted a vehicle driven by John Quentin London, who had been the subject of many community complaints in connection with drugs, the Henderson County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.
When detectives attempted to stop the vehicle, London, 38, of Hendersonville, tried to flee, the news release said. Detectives chased London through Hendersonville before he stopped in the area of Wilmont Drive and Tracy Grove Road.
Once stopped, London and a passenger, later identified as Christopher Russell, 28 of Hendersonville, fled on foot, according to the news release.
London was caught after a short foot pursuit, the news release said, but Russell was harder to catch. Detectives contained the area and brought in a K9 to track him. He was taken into custody a short time later.

London was charged with trafficking in methamphetamine by possession, trafficking in methamphetamine by transport; possession with intent to sell or distribute cocaine; possession with intent to sell or distribute a Schedule 1 controlled substance; possession with intent to sell or distribute a Schedule 4 controlled substance; possession with intent to sell or distribute marijuana; resist, obstruct, delay of a public officer; possession of drug paraphernalia; conspiracy to traffic methamphetamine; felony flee to elude arrest and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
London is being held in the Henderson County Detention Center under no bond.

Russell was charged with trafficking in methamphetamine by possession; trafficking in methamphetamine by transport; possession with intent to sell or distribute cocaine; possession with intent to sell or distribute a Schedule 1 controlled substance; possession with intent to sell or distribute a Schedule 4 controlled substance; possession with intent to sell or distribute marijuana; resist, obstruct, delay of a public officer; possession of drug paraphernalia and conspiracy to traffic methamphetamine.
Russell is being held in the Henderson County Detention Center under a $500,000 bond.
After executing a search warrant on London’s vehicle, detectives found:
- 79.12 grams of methamphetamine
- 4.74 grams of cocaine
- 5.8 grams of psilocybin mushrooms
- 5 dosage units of Xanax
- 100.39 grams of marijuana
- $1,160.00 of United States currency
- 2 firearms
