ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) —

Two men were arrested Tuesday in Biltmore Village after police investigated a collision in a parking lot and one of the vehicles turned out to be stolen, the Asheville Police Department reported.

The incident happened about 6:48 p.m., June 4, in the 200 block of Hendersonville Road, where police investigated a collision between one vehicle and an unoccupied vehicle in a parking lot, a press release states.

According to the release, police determined that Christopher Jerry Michael Crook, 37, was operating a stolen vehicle in the crash. Crook attempted to flee on foot but was apprehended shortly thereafter, a police spokesman said.

According to the release, Crook was charged with:

  • Possession of a stolen vehicle
  • Driving while impaired
  • Possession of drug paraphernalia
  • Assault on a government official
  • Resist, delay and obstruct

He also faced warrants for alleged possession of a stolen vehicle and damage to property, the release states. Crook was booked into the Buncombe County Detention Facility on a no bond hold (ineligible for release) due to the Pretrial Integrity Act, police said.

According to the release, another occupant of the vehicle, William Harrel Hudson, 47, was charged with three drug-related counts:

  • Possession Schedule II
  • Possession Schedule II
  • Possession Schedule IV

The release states that he also was booked into the Buncombe County Detention Facility on a no bond hold (ineligible for release) due to the Pretrial Integrity Act.
