ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — Patchy black ice developed across parts of Western North Carolina early Tuesday as temperatures dipped below freezing, according to the National Weather Service office in Greenville-Spartanburg.
Forecasters said wet roadways refroze overnight, creating isolated slick spots, particularly in rural areas, on bridges and overpasses, and along untreated roads. Pedestrians were urged to use caution on sidewalks, driveways and parking lots.
The hazardous conditions prompted another round of school closures and delays across the region.
