ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — A pedestrian who was struck by a vehicle in March has died from his injuries, Asheville police said Tuesday.

Larry Lamont McQueen, 47, was hit by a westbound 2021 Toyota Sienna minivan in the 200 block of Tunnel Road around 12:55 a.m. on March 3, according to a statement from the Asheville Police Department. Investigators said McQueen had stepped into the roadway outside a marked crosswalk when the collision occurred.

McQueen was taken to Mission Hospital, where he remained until succumbing to his injuries on June 27. His next of kin have been notified.

Police said McQueen had been cited the night of the incident for impeding traffic. After consulting with the Buncombe County District Attorney’s Office, authorities determined that no charges would be filed against the driver, who remained at the scene.

The department urged pedestrians to use crosswalks and remain alert when walking near roadways.

McQueen’s death marks Asheville’s 12th traffic fatality of 2025 and the fifth involving a pedestrian.
