ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — The Federal Aviation Administration issued a temporary flight restriction for the Asheville airspace from 12:15-8:30 p.m. Wednesday for “VIP Movement.”
Former President Donald Trump will hold an event at 4 p.m. at Thomas Wolfe Auditorium at Harrah’s Cherokee Center in downtown Asheville, and the visit is expected to cause travel disruptions, which could make getting to and from the airport more difficult.
DONALD TRUMP TO MAKE CAMPAIGN STOP IN ASHEVILLE
“We do not expect any significant impact to flight operations here at the airport,” Asheville Regional Airport Chief Administrative Officer Tina Kinsey said. “What we are doing publicly is helping our customers understand that, yes, there is an event planned at Asheville, so travelers should check traffic reports, just be aware that there could be traffic on the roads and it could take longer to get to and from the airport. What we can say is for travelers just to be savvy, watch the news, check traffic reports and make sure they plan enough time to arrive at the airport at least two hours prior to their flight boarding time.”
City officials have already announced several road closures in the area near the auditorium.
