ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — One of the most prominent art galleries in Asheville is back up and running after Hurricane Helene.

New Morning Gallery is a 12,500 square foot space located at 7 Boston Way in the center of Biltmore Village. Founded in 1972, New Morning has spent five decades featuring the arts and crafts of the region.

New Morning will officially reopen today, May 14, with a grand reopening celebration to follow on Friday, June 20, which will feature music, refreshments, special exhibitions and four local artists:

“For so many, New Morning Gallery has been a place of inspiration, craftsmanship and connection,” said gallery director Sarah Marshall in a press release. “We’re thrilled to welcome our friends, neighbors, and visitors back through our doors to experience the beauty and soul of American handmade art once again.”

The gallery features the work of over 500 artists and artisans, including wood, glass, ceramics, textiles and the region’s famous bacon cookers. New Morning is also one of the creative voices behind the Village Art & Craft Fair, an annual arts festival in Biltmore Village which has been held for over 50 years.

“We’re not just reopening a gallery. We’re reigniting a spirit,” said Marshall in the release. “This is a celebration of art, of Asheville and of the incredible community that has stood with us through it all.”
