ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — As the sun beats down on the last week of June, one River Arts District business is beating the heat with a cool Pride celebration all Saturday long.

The River Arts District Brewing Company will host their RAD Pride Celebration from noon to 11 p.m., Saturday, June 28 at their 13 Mystery St. address just outside downtown Asheville.

RAD Brewing Company is located on Mystery Street just outside of downtown Asheville.

The free, all-ages party will feature a variety of activities to enjoy.

“We’re doing an art market during the day, so we have a bunch of LGBTQIA+ owners and artists,” said Savannah Healy, sales representative for RAD Brewing. “We are going to have an affirmation wall for people to come up and write positive things about themselves and other people. We have live music all day.”

The art market will run from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., while Waylon Hamilton goes on from 3 to 5 p.m. and Kool Dewey Kudzu from 7 to 10 p.m.

RAD Brewing Pride will also feature a few unusual wrinkles on the typical festival formula.

“We have a Spiral Intuitive tarot reading. They are a queer tarot reader and I just thought it’d be a really cool, fun addition,” said Healy.

Robert “Lem” Lemery, the owner of RAD Brewing, said that the Pride celebration was reflective of RAD Brewing’s broader mission in the RAD community.

“I know all of our employees and us as a business, we’re allies. We’re here to show our support for the LGBTQIA+ community,” Lemery said. “The local community as well, lots of friends and family members, and you want to make sure that everyone knows that this place is a safe space to come and gather.”

CORRECTION – 4:39 p.m., Wednesday, June 25: A previous version of this article listed Kool Dewey Kudzu performing before Waylon Hamilton. That is incorrect. Hamilton will take the stage first at 3 p.m. followed by Kudzu at 7 p.m.

RAD Brewing is decorated with a multi-colored bird mural almost evocative of the rainbow Pride flag.
