ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — Just weeks after Hurricane Helene devastated the River Arts District in September 2024, the Asheville arts community banded together to put on RADFest, a free, district-wide party celebrating the region’s creators. This weekend, that celebration returns as RADFest 2.0.

RADFest 2.0 will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 8 and Sunday, Nov. 9 across the River Arts District.

What to expect at RADFest 2.0

One major impact of Helene in the RAD was the displacement of hundreds of artists. During last year’s festival, dozens of displaced artists set up pop-up tents with their wares, a trend which continues in the form of art markets every Saturday outside of Pine Gate Renewables.

While over 100 artists will continue to man their outdoor stalls this year, over 500 artists have returned to RAD studios, many of which will be open to explore during RADFest 2.0.

“We were absolutely blown away with how many people came to show their support and buy art. You guys really showed how pivotal art is to the identity and culture of Asheville, and we were so grateful,” the River Arts District Artists page wrote on Facebook. “It’s time to show up for us again, and what a beautiful excuse to fill your home with unique, amazing local art.”

In addition to the outdoor market and open galleries, RADFest 2.0 will feature live music, art demonstrations, food trucks, family-friendly activities and more.
