ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — Keep the umbrella or raincoat handy next week.
Chilly, cloudy and rainy weather in the Asheville area is expected to taper off around daybreak Monday with rain returning Monday night, according to the National Weather Service.
Temperatures will be warming through the first half of the workweek. Much warmer and above-normal temperatures are expected in the short term, the National Weather Service said. Rain chances return Wednesday. Drier and cooler conditions are expected Thursday into the weekend.
The forecast, according to the National Weather Service:
- Monday: Patchy fog before 1 p.m. Otherwise, partly sunny with a high near 59.
- Monday night: A 30 percent chance of showers, mainly after 2 a.m. Mostly cloudy with a low around 47.
- Tuesday: A 20 percent chance of showers. Partly sunny with a high near 64.
- Tuesday night: A 30 percent chance of showers, mainly after 2 a.m. Mostly cloudy with a low around 48.
- Wednesday: Showers likely, mainly after 1 p.m. Mostly cloudy with a high near 66. Chance of precipitation is 70 percent.
- Wednesday night: Showers likely, mainly before 8 p.m. Mostly cloudy with a low around 38. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent.
- Thursday: Mostly sunny with a high near 51.
- Thursday night: Mostly clear with a low around 30.
- Friday: Sunny with a high near 48.
- Friday night: Partly cloudy with a low around 25.
