ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — Rain is here to stay, at least for a little longer. The National Weather Service says remnants of what was Potential Tropical Cyclone 8 will linger over the region and produce scattered showers across the western Carolinas and northeast Georgia on Tuesday.

Temperatures will be on the cool side with partly to mostly cloudy skies overhead.

The remnants of the coastal low will meander over the region and keep elevated rain chances across the area. By Wednesday, the remnant low will stall out over the Mid-Atlantic, while high pressure begins to build into the region from the north and west late in the week.

Western North Carolina escaped much of the storm’s biggest impacts, while the coastal area received “historic amounts of rain,” according to The Associated Press.
