BLACK MOUNTAIN, N.C. (828newsNOW) — A section of local music venue White Horse Black Mountain collapsed earlier today during construction work on the building.
No one was injured during the accident.
In a statement on social media, White Horse explained that the collapse occurred during “early renovation work” on the building. The fallen section of the venue was part of the former ticket booth area.
The venue thanked the town of Black Mountain and local first responders for their fast, empathetic response to the accident, citing the Black Mountain Fire Department, Fire Marshal Doug Morrow, Fire Chief John Coffey and Building Inspector Rick Burton for their assistance.
“Their responsiveness ensured the situation was assessed thoroughly and handled with clarity and confidence,” White Horse wrote.

As the venue assessed the damage, North Carolina Urban Search and Rescue was brought to the scene to evaluate the structural security of the building.
“We are deeply appreciative of the professionalism, communication, and partnership shown by the Town of Black Mountain,” the venue wrote. “This experience reaffirmed what we already know — this is a community that truly takes care of one another.”

In the aftermath of the collapse, the music venue has canceled its live evening performances between Jan. 21-28, while daytime events will be held at alternate venues to be announced on social media.
