ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — Scandals Nightclub and the Grove House Entertainment complex are looking for a new venue as they say farewell to the Grove House in downtown Asheville.
The nightclub wrote on social media it will end its “44-year tenacy at 11 Grove Street after the first weekend in March,” saying the four-story building is more space than their business needs at this time.
“The current landlord prefers that only one tenant occupy the entire property,” the nightclub wrote in a Feb. 15 Facebook post.
There was a special drag brunch event hosted by Euphoria Eclipse with locally known performers on Feb. 23 to say a farewell to Scandals Nightclub.
Many local club goers are upset by the closing.
“I was super sad. It’s one of the only places to dance in Asheville that feels safe. I will miss everything about it,” frequent clubgoer Cadence Rayne said.
This, however, is not the end for the popular Asheville nightclub. It revealed in a social media post that there is an active search underway for a new venue. Until then, the last night is Saturday, March 1.
