ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — Snow flurries have tapered off across the mountains and northern counties, but temperatures remain cold — 27 degrees in Asheville at 5 a.m. Because of the chilly conditions and the potential for slick roads, several Asheville-area schools are delaying the start of classes.

Those schools include:

Avery County Schools: Two-hour delay, with limited bus routes
Madison County Schools: Two-hour delay
Mayland Community College: Two-hour delay
Mitchell County Schools: Two-hour delay
Yancey County Schools: Two-hour delay
