ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — The outdoor gear consignment shop Second Gear celebrated its 20th anniversary last June, mere months before its Riverside Drive location would be demolished by flooding after Hurricane Helene.
However, just as the store shines up outdoor gear for a second life, Second Gear bounced back. After reopening its doors in early December, Second Gear will celebrate its grand return this weekend.
The party will begin at 10 a.m., Saturday, March 29 at the new Second Gear, 52 Westgate Parkway.
“With our new location opening up early December, it at times felt more a race than a celebration… but with the weather warming up and our area’s beautiful flowers starting to bloom, we are truly feeling the celebration of our next chapter,” wrote Second Gear marketing lead Rhea Lidowski in a press release. “So here we are, finally having an (only slightly delayed) Grand Opening Celebration!”
The celebration itself will last from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and feature treats, a D.I.Y. Second Gear t-shirt station and a special prize with each purchase made during the festivities.
For shoppers unable to make the party, Second Gear will also be offering a 20% discount on every item in the store between 10 a.m. and 7 p.m.
“Even stacking on top of current discounts on consignment for up to 70% OFF,” Lidowski teased.
As Asheville prepares for its signature outdoor adventures this spring and summer, Second Gear will be there.
