ARDEN, N.C. (828newsNOW) — Mission Health’s new South Asheville ER is open.
The 11,000-square-foot emergency room on Hendersonville Road in Arden is equipped with state-of-the-art technology, 11 exam rooms, an on-site laboratory and diagnostic imaging services, including CT and X-ray.
A news release from Mission Health said board-certified emergency physicians and specially-trained nurses will be able to treat many conditions, ranging from broken bones to chest pain to serious infections. Among other services, South Asheville ER will also provide EMS partners with a place to stabilize critical patients before they are transported to an inpatient hospital.

The facility is licensed by the state and provides South Asheville residents and visitors another option to be seen and treated 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Emergency Departments across the country and locally have seen an influx of patients who are experiencing longer wait times, the news release said. Mission Hospital aims to help in meet the larger demand for emergency services with this facility.
“Expanding our services to the Arden area helps us provide emergency care in a more convenient location for these community members,” Wyatt Chocklett, chief operating officer of Mission Hospital, said in the news release. “We currently see thousands of patients from these neighborhoods and look forward to caring for them closer to home.”
On-call specialists and consultation services will be provided by hospital medical staff, with a seamless transfer to an inpatient hospital should a higher level of care be required, the news release said.
