ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — The Asheville Police Department has released a news statement reminding the public to avoid areas impacted by Hurricane Helene.

“Flood damage across the city has left many parks and trails unsafe, with risks including damaged infrastructure, unstable ground, hidden debris, poor lighting, and the absence of public facilities,” wrote APD Public Information Officer Rick Rice. “Some facilities have reopened to the public, but they may still have suffered damage and could have inadequate lighting in the evening hours.”
