ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — Steep Canyon Rangers, the beloved Brevard bluegrass band, will take to the stage in downtown Asheville next week for a free community show.

The Asheville Downtown Association will present the Steep Canyon Rangers with opener Sam Burchfield and the Scoundrels at their Community Concert, an evening of live music and family-friendly activities, beginning at 6 p.m., Thursday, May 29 on the Pack Square Park stage.

However, there will be fun to be had even before the music starts.

“We’re especially proud to partner with a number of local nonprofits to help staff this event through volunteer support,” said ADA Executive Director Hayden Plemmons in a press release. “This is truly a community-powered concert.”

At 4 p.m., local outdoor gear consignment shop Second Gear will kick off the festivities with their Trailhead Market, a collection of the region’s best outdoor and adventure companies and local vendors. The market will be open until 8 p.m.

While supplies last, local ice cream spot The Hop Ice Cream Café will partner with Flour Café and the ADA to debut a special Community Concert flavor. There will also be a special performance by the Asheville Beer Choir sometime that evening.

For families, there will be a Kids Zone with kid-friendly activities. For those looking to secure a reserved seat for the show, the ADA offers Skyla Credit Union Preferred Access Tickets in the Preferred Access area. Those tickets are available for purchase here.
