Asheville, N.C. (828newsNOW) —

Spotty but sometimes powerful storms brought waves of rain and thunder to the Asheville area on Saturday afternoon, causing minor street flooding at low spots.

Darkened skies during deluges made for some tricky driving conditions on local roadways. Meanwhile, runoff from construction sites left a mess in some areas.

The National Weather Service was predicting scattered showers and patchy fog continuing into Saturday evening, with more on Sunday.

The Weather Channel’s weather.com site projected the highest chance of the next thunderstorms after 2 p.m. on Sunday.
