ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) —

The chance of rain and thunderstorms on Saturday has forced the postponement of the planned Dog Day Afternoon Powered by Ingles event at Lake Julian.

“Due to the storms that are in the forecast tomorrow, we have made the tough decision to postpone the Dog Day Afternoon Powered by Ingles spring event scheduled for May 4th,” said Shannon Steele, Promotions & Marketing Director for Asheville Media Group. “We are working with the Ultimate Air Dogs and Lake Julian Park to reschedule the event and we will update you with a new date as soon as it’s set.”

The twice-annual event is for dogs and their families, where the pets get to show off their favorite tricks, compete in a fashion show and check out pet-themed vendors. It’s also a gathering of local organizations that help find dogs their “forever homes.”

Organizers were working to finalize an alternative date.

This story will be updated when the new date is announced.
