ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — An annual celebration of sustainable transportation will return to the Asheville area next week.

Strive Not to Drive Week will begin Monday, May 19 in Western North Carolina with free rides on Asheville Rides Transit buses.

“It’s the perfect time to explore sustainable transportation options, reduce your carbon footprint and see how easy it is to ride ART,” the city of Asheville wrote in a press release.

For new ART riders or Asheville residents who need a refresher on the bus system, the city of Asheville provided this how-to article.

Strive Not to Drive Week exists to encourage travelers to seek out alternative modes of transportation, whether by bus, bike or boots. For a full list of Strive Not to Drive Week activities, visit www.strivebeyond.org/calendar-of-events.
