ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — Doppler radar is tracking strong thunderstorms along a line extending from 9 miles north of Marshall to 11 miles west of downtown Asheville to 17 miles southeast of Franklin, the National Weather Service said. Storms were moving northeast at 60 mph.

Wind gusts up to 40 mph are expected. These could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects.

People in the following areas should keep an eye on what is happening:

  • East Asheville
  • Green Mountain
  • Flat Creek
  • West Asheville
  • Poplar
  • Marshall
  • Blue Ridge Parkway near the North Carolina Arboretum to East Asheville
  • Burnsville
  • Biltmore Forest.

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch is in effect until 7 p.m. for Western North Carolina.
